Our school theme was ‘Community’ so for Foundation students it was all about some places familiar to them and for this lesson, houses. I displayed some images of different houses (can use images stand alone houses, apartment blocks, townhouses, etc) that would be familiar with students and houses they would see in our community.
We discussed shapes and lines seen on the house images before students used shapes to draw a house in their scrapbooks to then share and describe.
We did this lesson early in the year so to make the collage house, students used some pre-cut shapes, and then they added their own details. This activity took 2 one hour lessons.
The lesson plan has the learning intentions and success criteria, lesson activity sequence and materials, plus a reflection sheet.
